Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️

Here are a few ancestors who came from Ireland from my Dad’s side. Michael Dennehy with sons John and Patrick from County Limerick on the Border of Cork, Daniel Dennehy (great grandfather, son of Michael and husband to Julia Hayes), Ellen and Julia Hayes (my great-grandmother) from County Cork, and Patrick Nolan (great grandfather on my Nolan side) who married Mary Agnes McDonnell both from County Galway.

Many of my Mom’s side of the family came over to Massachusetts during the Potato famine of the 19th century including Garrigans & Growneys from County Cavan, Haleys & Aherns from Cork, & Bradys from Meath, and many settled in and around Cambridge, MA. The Barretts and Collins also came later in the late 19th century, mostly from County Cork.

My family keeps the American Irish tradition of corned beef & cabbage with all the fixings (I know not authentic to Ireland but yummy & sentimental for us Boston Irish Catholics). And of course a Guinness & listening to Irish music. Sláinte!
